Bailey Island is a small island community situated in picturesque Casco Bay, which is located along the mid-coast region of the state, just 13 miles south of the city of Brunswick. Bailey Island is connected to the mainland by the world’s only cribstone bridge. This scenic island is home to several bed & breakfast inns, motels and seaside cabins and cottages. It’s a great place for beach and water activities, and there are many art galleries and shops on the island, perfect for a day of browsing and sightseeing. Casco Bay extends a distance of twenty miles and is filled with over 300 small islands in total, with the city of Portland at the western end of the Bay. Other interesting Casco Bay attractions near Bailey Island includes Two Lights State Park in Cape Elizabeth, Crescent Beach State Park and Wolfe’s Neck Woods State Park. The Southwest Coast of Maine near Casco Bay has four seasons with mild summer temperatures in the 70s and low 80s. Interior areas experience a greater range of temperatures in the summer than low-lying coastal areas. Expect cool sea breezes, especially at night. Widely scattered thunderstorms, along with higher humidity levels, can occur along with patchy fog along the coast. Maine's coastal climate is ranked second to the Pacific Northwest in annual precipitation, and this moisture occurs in every from - from rain to ice and snow.
