Orrs-Island
is a resort community located in Casco Bay in southwest Maine, approximately twelve miles from the town of Brunswick. It is generally considered part of the village of Harpswell, which is located on a ten-mile peninsula that juts into the Bay of Brunswick. The three major islands, Sebascodegan (or Great Island,) Bailey and Orrs Island are all connected by bridges, and are surrounded by some 47 other smaller islands. Some of these islands are uninhabited, known simply for their natural beauty, while others feature historic sites and protected beaches and seabird colonies. Orrs Island is for those who love to go fishing, boating, sailing, sea kayaking, hiking, or for anyone looking for a special place to relax to the sounds of the ocean and seabirds overhead. There are many fine seafood restaurants in the Orrs Island area, some featuring fresh lobster and clams straight from the waters of the Bay. Visitors will find historic inns and bed and breakfasts on Orrs Island; some in beautifully restored homes. A short drive takes you to the shopping, museums, and historic sites of the nearby towns of Bath, Brunswick, Freeport and Portland, which is Maine's largest city.

The Southwest Coast of Maine near Casco Bay has four seasons with mild summer temperatures in the 70s and low 80s. Interior areas experience a greater range of temperatures in the summer than low-lying coastal areas. Expect cool sea breezes, especially at night. Widely scattered thunderstorms, along with higher humidity levels, can occur along with patchy fog along the coast. Maine's coastal climate is ranked second to the Pacific Northwest in annual precipitation, and this moisture occurs in every from - from rain to ice and snow. Winters in Maine are quite cold with temperatures ranging from 11 to 31 degrees F. Average annual snowfall is 61 inches although snow melts more quickly along the coast than further inland.
