Bucksport
is a small seaside town in Maine that is older than the United States itself. Founded in 1764, Bucksport is located at the upper end of Penobscot Bay, and during the height of the schooner trade, ships of every description filled its' picturesque harbor. Today, Bucksport is blessed with a central location, making this historic town a "gateway" town intersecting Acadia Highway Route 1, which leads to Bar Harbor and Camden with Route 15 which goes to Blue Hill and Bangor. This peaceful little town has spectacular views of the Waldo/Hancock Bridge and historic Fort Knox, Maine's most visited historic site. Bucksport also offers a charming waterfront park and walkway that is a great place to relax and picnic or take a stroll and enjoy the views of the working harbor and marina. Historical markers, docking, picnic tables, a gazebo and restrooms are available in the park. Other attractions in town include the Northeast Historic Film Archives, Theater and Visitor Center, the Bucksport Historical Society Museum, the Craig Brook National Fish Hatchery and a new cultural arts center. Bucksport is a charming, quiet town with a nice mix of businesses, shops and restaurants. It is only 30 minutes to the towns of Bangor, Brewer and Ellsworth. For skiing enthusiasts, it's an easy two-hour drive to the Sugarloaf Mountains, Sunday River and Squaw ski areas.

The Central Coast of Maine, near Penobscot Bay, has a mild climate with an average annual snowfall of 59 inches and average annual rainfall of 48 inches. Generally summers are mild with temperatures rarely going above 80 degrees. Expect cool weather on most summer nights, especially along the coast where sea breezes can feel quite cool. The humidity level is usually of no consequence due to the mild temperatures. Winters in Maine are cold but not frigid. Snow melts frequently along the coast - winter enthusiasts will find more snow on the ground for longer periods of time inland. Ice storms are regular in winter and early spring, and rain is frequent in every month. Fog is common during Jun, Jul and Aug.
