Stockton Springs
is located on scenic Penobscot Bay in the beautiful Mid-Coast area of Maine. It is approximately a two-hour drive north of Portland and 20 miles north of Camden, Maine. Visitors find Stockton Springs to be a delightful town off the beaten track along U.S. Route 1, yet conveniently located near all the major attractions. Fort Point State Park with its lighthouse dating back to 1836 is just a five-mile drive away and is a nice spot for a picnic or fishing. Historic Fort Knox, Maine’s largest fort, was constructed between 1844 and 1869, and visitors are invited to explore its many rooms and passageways. The Penobscot Marine Museum is Maine’s oldest maritime museum and is located in nearby Searsport. The museum is actually a small village made up of twelve buildings, including sea captains’ homes dating from the 19th century. Outdoor fun is abundant in the Stockton Springs area, including hiking, lobster boat rides, sailing and boating, swimming, fishing, golf, horseback riding and cross-country skiing. And for something different, take the family blueberry picking in a peaceful rural setting on a family-owned farm dating to 1838! Stockton Springs is also a good base for day trips to Acadia State Park, Bar Harbor and Camden Hills.

The Central Coast of Maine, near Penobscot Bay, has a mild climate with an average annual snowfall of 59 inches and average annual rainfall of 48 inches. Generally summers are mild with temperatures rarely going above 80 degrees. Expect cool weather on most summer nights, especially along the coast where sea breezes can feel quite cool. The humidity level is usually of no consequence due to the mild temperatures. Winters in Maine are cold but not frigid. Snow melts frequently along the coast %u2013 winter enthusiasts will find more snow on the ground for longer periods of time inland. Ice storms are regular in winter and early spring, and rain is frequent in every month. Fog is common during Jun, Jul and Aug.
