Center Lovell
is a small town nestled in the foothills of the White Mountains and Lakes Region of western Maine, near the New Hampshire state line. It’s sandwiched between the towns of Lovell (4 miles to the south) and North Lovell (about 6 miles to the north.) This is a picturesque area with gorgeous hiking trails and country roads for bikers, fishing, boating and canoeing, picnicking and cookouts, horseback riding, wildlife viewing and more. Center Lovell sits on the southern end of Kezar Lake, which according to National Geographic Magazine, is “the most beautiful glacier lake in the world.” Kezar Lake is 9 miles long and one mile wide and is dotted with several small islands. This pristine mountain lake and the nearby White Mountain National Forest area offers literally dozens of activities, including golf, with at least five golf courses within a half-hour drive of the lake. The lake also has a nice, sandy beach for swimming and a local marina. Shawnee Peak, New England’s largest nighttime skiing facility is also just minutes from Kezar Lake. The area is filled with antique stores and arts and crafts shops, and outlet stores can be found in nearby North Conway, New Hampshire. Center Lovell is approximately 50 miles from the Portland, Maine airport.

Western Maine near the New Hampshire state line enjoy four distinct seasons that typifies the best of a New England climate. There%u2019s plenty of clear, sunny weather with cool nights in the summertime, with occasional showers and thunderstorms. Extreme humidity in summertime is usually not a problem because temperatures are so mild. Fall is spectacular %u2013 crisp, mild days and cold nights, perfect for sightseeing. Winter begins in Maine around Thanksgiving, with January and February being the coldest months. The average annual snowfall is around 85 inches and winter temperatures vary from the mid-30s to below zero. Most snowfall occurs in eight to ten measurable storms of 6 inches to a foot. In the last fifteen years, the largest single snowstorm amount was 16 inches. Temperatures begin to increase in March, along with an increase in humidity, which often results in snowstorms until mid-April.
