Sebec Village is home to The Sebec Village Shops, a year round market that offers an eclectic array of gifts, groceries and plants, as well as a post office, UPS pick-up, fax and copy service. A café also offers delicious made to order breakfasts and lunches throughout the year, and dinner is served during the summer months only. The village also hosts an Old Fashioned 4th of July with a parade, horseshoe tournament, road race and barbecue. Maine offers four distinct seasons. In the Katahdin Region there is plenty of clear, sunny weather in summer, with nights cool enough to provide a welcome relief from the warm days. Brisk days and cool nights in September prepare for what is the favorite season for many in Maine - the spectacular colors of fall. Temperatures continue to cool through October and November, and the really cold weather settles in around Thanksgiving. Below zero temperatures are possible in January and February, but usually do not last for any long period of time. Snow is usually continuously on the ground from December through February. Temperatures begin to increase in March, with a corresponding increase in humidity. The northern area receives approximately 85 inches of snow a year, most of it occurring in eight to ten measurable storms per year.
