Boothbay-Harbor
is a small fishing village located at the end of a peninsula on southern mid-coast Maine. This is quintessential New England, a quaint town with village antique shops and restaurants, a bustling harbor area with lobster boats, craft fairs and farmers markets, windjammers and other watercraft. Just a few of the activities in the area include sightseeing along meandering coast roads, exploring quiet coves and rocky shores, lighthouses and islands, hiking and biking, fishing, sea kayaking and canoeing, wildlife viewing and birdwatching. You can take a boat tour of nearby Monhegan Island or visit a waterfront park that is in the shape of a whale. Boothbay Harbor is host to a Fishermen's Festival in April and Windjammer Days in June. Wintertime is another magical season along the coast with beautiful light displays at the Boothbay Commons, the Harbor and Southport Village. In early December, Boothbay Harbor is home to the Annual Harbor Lights Festival, which includes an arts and crafts fair, Historical Society Open House, wagon rides, a lighted boat parade, visits with Santa, live music and more. Nearby attractions to Boothbay Harbor are the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, the Boothbay Railway Village, Barrett's Park and Lobster Cove.

Mid-coast Maine, east of Brunswick, has an oceanic climate with four seasons. This area has an elevation of approximately 70 feet above sea level and is surrounded by rolling farmlands, forest areas, numerous islands, peninsulas, bays and beaches. Winter temperatures generally range from 0 to 40 degrees F. and while accumulating snow remains a possibility into March and early April, warmer days generally means relatively fast melts. . Ice storms can also occur in winter and early spring. Summers along the coast are cool, with temperatures in the 60 to 80 degrees range. Nights are usually chilly along the coast, year round. Rain can occur in any month of the year, with thunderstorms most common during the spring and summer months. Crisp, sunny days and cool nights make fall one of the most pleasant times of the year along the mid-coast, a very comfortable and colorful time of the year to visit Maine.
