Otisfield
is a small village in Oxford County, Western Maine, approximately 24 miles from the town of Bethel. The population in the 2000 census was 1,560 residents. Known as the “Oxford Hills” region, Otisfield is situated in the midst of an area of unlimited natural resources and beauty, including pristine lakes and ponds, rivers and mountains. Excellent hunting and fishing opportunities abound in the Otisfield area, and it’s surrounded by hundreds of miles of groomed snowmobile trails and hiking and biking paths. Swimming, water sports, boating and golf are all located nearby. Within minutes, you can be at the Shawnee Peak, Mt. Abram and Sunday River Ski Areas. Oxford County is also called “The Gemstone Capital of Maine,” and has many active gemstone quarries for rockhounds. Other local attractions include the Oxford Plains Speedway, the McLaughlin Garden and Horticultural Center, the Celebration Barn Theater and Deertrees Theatre. Otisfield is also near the Greater Bridgton Lakes Region, a four-season vacation playground with a multitude of activities such as fishing and boating, canoeing, skiing, hiking wooded trails and fall foliage tours.

Western Maine near the New Hampshire state line enjoy four distinct seasons that typifies the best of a New England climate. There%u2019s plenty of clear, sunny weather with cool nights in the summertime, with occasional showers and thunderstorms. Extreme humidity in summertime is usually not a problem because temperatures are so mild. Fall is spectacular %u2013 crisp, mild days and cold nights, perfect for sightseeing. Winter begins in Maine around Thanksgiving, with January and February being the coldest months. The average annual snowfall is around 85 inches and winter temperatures vary from the mid-30s to below zero. Most snowfall occurs in eight to ten measurable storms of 6 inches to a foot. In the last fifteen years, the largest single snowstorm amount was 16 inches. Temperatures begin to increase in March, along with an increase in humidity, which often results in snowstorms until mid-April.
